If you got an open beta key, you should have gotten a separate key for the head start program.
If I had to put that to one day I would have to say Aug 8th or Aug 15 because I think the open beta will start on a weekend. I hope this has help some but it may just be me ranting.

The WoW European open beta was exactly the same thing - it began about 10 days before the release of the game .
I was in open beta for LotrO, and PotBS. I didn’t have to pay anything to be in either of those, and both were high-profile games.

I have played daoc, wow, and the war beta. So all I’ll say is that it’s worth playing.
I’m currently in the closed beta and I have to say, if you enjoy pvp, especially rvr ala dark age of camelot.
I think that’s enough peeps right there to substain the game plus warhammer fans and sundry players; I expect war to do well though probably not top wow.
You are all forgetting WoW did not have 11 million subscribers at launch I’m sure given time WAR will eclipse WoW once they get some patches underway and the game proves its self in the months to come when the general populace can see for them selves that this is not just another WoW clone.
D3 is coming, S2 is coming - when was the last time you played a shitty Blizzard game? I do think that Warhammer has these same obstacles to overcome, even more so with the impending release of WotLK soon after WAR’s launch.
Warhammer from what ive seen it likes to focus on RvR, where pvp does give you exp, influence and renown.
I know what warhammer is and how warcraft takes alot of inspiration from warhammer, but blizzard has that little extra something.
There is a good chance that goa and mythic will try to start it simultaneos so it would be around the opening time of mythic.
Has any specific -time- been stated as to when the OB will officially start? As for head start, if the game releases on the 23rd, I think CE will get a full week headstart and SE will get like 3 days, so that all falls in with your time line.
Now from the looks of the list most retail stores think that game will come out on 09/23/08 or 09/16/08. I gather the idea is to stress-test the servers, not actually start the beta early.
Players may not talk about nor reprint posts from our forums and our Test Servers are still fully covered by the confidentiality portions of our Beta Testing Agreement. It might not be “open” as such, but it is a significant increase to the amount of testers they have had in the beta up to this point.
There hasn’t been a decent MMO since that didn’t make you buy the game to get into beta . I think most of these developers realize their game has no chance so they try to grab as much money as they can before the playerbase realizes what a pile of shit it actually is .
You realize you never have to actually buy the game right? It’s all live, and ready to go day one.
I’m in the closed beta too, and while I’ve not played as extensively as I could have I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun. The content I’ve seen so far in the closed beta ranks among the more complete I’ve seen in an MMORPG launch so far.
I have a good number of friends in the beta for this, and they do not seem to be complaining in the LEAST about the amount of content.
Because everyone can join, whereas a “closed beta” means that only selected testers can join.
Not to mention you can pre-order, get your beta key, then ask for your money back.
I’m in closed beta, and the NDA was just lifted: The scale of the cities and the depth of tier 4 is huge.
In answer to question 3, I would say that I really can’t keep playing the same game non-stop. I couldn’t play WoW and DnD Online at the same time because they feel like the same game, but WoW and City of Heroes is fine.
We chose the latter path - to invest additional time and effort in implementation and polish to make WAR great.
Fortunately, we have the resources and support of EA behind us to extend our development cycle; time that will be used to make sure the game is everything we want it to be.
It’s going to be a demo that grossly oversells the population as everyone crams in at the word ‘open’ and vacates when it’s time to buy the box at retail and start forking over subscription fees.
I never played WoW but its a lot faster paced than EQ in my opinion. That’s ground for a declaration of war .
Warhammer is great fun, and the Public Quest and Group system is a mechanic I have no doubt will be replicated by others soon.

I’m sure it has something to do with the amount of traffic the server would have endured had they told the entire community at exactly what time the servers would open up.
Not that it wont be able to handle all of us but surely we would run into some major issues if every preorder tried to get on at the exact same time today.
