Mary Murphy
Mary Murphy
She coined it this month, inspired by a Broadway routine performed flawlessly by hip-hop dancer Joshua Allen and his contemporary partner Katee Shean during Fox’s multidiscipline dance competition for aspiring performers. After the performance, Murphy screamed in her usual jubilant, uninhibited, practically deranged manner. 3
Why is Mary on this show as a judge? She interrupts all of the other judges when it is their turn to speak and tries to get all of the camera time she can get. What a way to try to get attention or become “known” to the viewing public. She is a classless and disgusting human being that doesn’t know when to shut that giant pie hole on her face. She should team up with Rosie O’Donnell and have a new show reality show “America’s most hated”. 6
Mary Murphy is the supreme ballroom dancer, and you should all be blessed to have her be present on the show to help these incredible dancers. Yes the scream is annoying.so what? Simon on Idol is a pigagainso what? She is unique, and funny, and is enjoying herselfand you should all be flogged for such hateful comments. 4
Mary Murphy was in Toronto last week to help unveil the CTV fall schedule. She’ll be a guest judge on the new show So You Thing You Can Dance Canada. 2
As far as the dancing goes, last night was far and away the best show of the entire season. Each and every dancer delivered at least one great performance, and for Twitch and Katee, it was their contemporary routine that made an impact. He and Katee performed a Mia Michaels creation that had everything from a door being slammed, to punches being thrown, to a passionate kiss. Oh, and they danced well, too. 8
She currently runs her dance studio and organizes a Las Vegas dance competition, the Holiday Dance Classic. She frequently serves as a judge in several reputable competitions, including the U.S. National Ballroom Championships. 7
Murphy was part of the original guest judge and choreographer pool when season 1 began in 2005. In 2006, for season 2, she made noticeably more appearances at the judging table than the other choreographers. In 2007, just prior to season 3, it was reported in TV Guide that Murphy would be a permanent judge, a position previously only enjoyed by Nigel Lythgoe. 9
For the next five years she went on to build a list of accomplishments with various partners including the Southwest Regional Dance Tournament, the Saint Louis Star Ball, and the International Grand Ball. With partner Bill Milner, Murphy made the U.S. Open Standard final in an unprecedented six months. 5
