Idaho jumped out to a 42-13 lead with 12:48 left in the third quarter, then cruised to a 42-27 victory over in-state rival Idaho State University.

After getting crushed 70-0 a few weeks ago by Arizona the University of Idaho football team decided it needed to shake things up.

BOISE, Idaho Less than a month into the football season, the Idaho Vandals are undergoing another makeover after spectators complained that cheerleaders’ uniforms were flashing a little more than school spirit.

Sophomore tailback DEONTE JACKSON gained 100 yards on 12 carries, for an 8.3 yard average and one TD.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Unfortunately, we were unable to capture possibly the most electrifying play of the game, when sophomore quarterback Nathan Enderle connected with sophomore split end Maurice Shaw for a 77-yard scoring strike on the first play of the game.

Then the game explode, and the Vandals were left with a frustrating 42-17 loss….

The Vandals scored on an electrifying 77-yard TD strike on the first play from scrimmage when QB Nate Enderle hit WR Maurice Shaw deep, ERIC HUNTER recovered his own blocked punt in the endzone, and Vandal tailbacks gained 249-yards in the game.

LOGAN, Utah Saturday’s Western Athletic Conference football opener for the Idaho Vandals had a storyline that is all too familiar some good, some bad and some ugly..

“A number of fans were concerned that the uniforms were inappropriate,” said Bruce Pitman, dean of students.

The move was done in reaction to their 70-0 loss to Arizona last Saturday.

Following Idaho’s frustrating setback Saturday afternoon to the Utah State Aggies in the WAC opener for both programs, University of Idaho starting quarterback NATHAN ENDERLE addressed questions from the media regarding the team’s solid performance to start each half , then fading as each half continued throughout the game.

After the football team dumped the school logo from the buttocks of their new pants, the university in Moscow got complaints that new two-piece cheerleader uniforms were too skimpy.

The new uniform is black and silver with a less revealing halter-style top and a skirt about six inches longer than the ones that cheerleaders debuted earlier this season, said Shelly Robson, an adviser to the spirit squad and a fundraiser for the athletics department.

As you know we here at Rumors and Rants are ardent supporters of cheerleaders.

I guess risqué outfits are more offensive in those parts than 70-0 losses.

The cheerleaders coach ordered the uniforms and paid for them with $4,200 from a spirit squad fund, part of which is drawn from student fees, Pitman said.

Redshirt freshman tailback COREY WHITE gained 20 yards on six carries and scored his first collegiate touchdown.

The outfits that drew controversy, halter tops and short black skirts with white trim, were similar to what an NFL cheerleader might wear, Pitman said.

Senior H-Back EDDIE WILLIAMS was instrumental in tonight’s victory, including his touchdown reception above and setting numerous blocks to spring Vandal runningbacks for big gains.
