A conservative knows he is in the Right place, It is called the Conservative Cafe in Crown Point, Indiana. If you are deep within a hot bed of Liberal thinking, here stands an Oasis of Conservative thought.

The cafe, which opened Monday, pokes fun at the clash of liberal and conservative values while serving gourmet coffee, breads and sandwiches. Special coffee blends range from a “Liberal” brew (the weakest of the selections) to “Radical Right” (the strongest blend).

Its conservative theme might attract some customers but it also turns off some of the latte-drinking liberals who need their caffeine fix every morning. Dave Beckham didn’t create the cafe to discriminate against liberals and, if not for the cafe’s name, he thinks there wouldn’t be any commotion at all. “There’s nothing intriguing about that.”

Conservative Cafe is a mom an pop restaurant that isn’t shy about displaying their politics. Just look at their slogan: Coffee served right. Though they serve up clever double meanings and conservative values daily, you can see the food items on their menu here. If you’re in Crown Point, Indiana any time soon, you’ll know where to go and what to order.

Friends warned Beckham to stay away from the conservative theme before the cafe opened in October. The former art teacher says he came up with the idea about five years ago, after souring on Starbucks and the other higher-end coffee chains.

Beckham says he sees the area as generally conservative, no matter what the political party. McCall says Crown Point is an ideal location since it is the county’s “epicenter of conservatism.”

If this sounds good to you, and you don’t live in Indiana, don’t worry. Beckham is thinking about franchising. The Conservative Cafe could be coming to a strip mall near you.
